Free Workshop for Professional Advisors

A strength of the Community Foundation is our ability to bring speakers, workshops, and training to Grundy County so that a) our colleagues don’t have far to travel and b) to help assure that decisions in Grundy County are being made according to best practices.

We do this for many topics and through the numerous networks that we convene or co-convene.  This includes the Behavioral Health Alliance, the Grundy Partnership for Children, and the Grundy County Area Planners.

The next event is designed specifically for professional advisors, including attorneys, CPAs, financial advisors, and insurance representatives.  Professional advisors from the region are invited – it is not limited to those practicing in Grundy County.

On Wednesday, September 25th, we are again hosting a local telecast of the national Estate & Charitable Gift Planning Institute.  The event begins at 9:00 am and ends at 3:30 pm.  The local site is the conference room of the Grundy County Housing Authority, 1802 N. Division, door #9.  The event is free, but RSVPs are required to receive materials.  Coffee and lunch will be served.  Please send RSVPs to 815-941-0852 or [email protected]

All-day participants will receive Continuing Education Units/Credits approved for Illinois professionals.  Please contact Julie for details.

According to panelists Ann B. Burns and Kathryn W. Miree, recent changes in income, gift and estate tax rates and exclusion amounts have dramatically changed estate and charitable strategies for taxpayers. And Congress is not finished yet.  Both panelists will share new strategies, practical solutions, and opportunities for planning following the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012.

Topic sessions include:

  • Current case law updates
  • Drafting estate plans in light of recent tax law changes
  • Strategies to address charitable estate goals without using traditional charitable vehicles
  • Simple ideas to maximize lifetime and estate charitable gifts
  • Ethical considerations in charitable and estate planning
  • Why estate planning is more important than ever
  • American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012
  • Department of Treasury priority guidance plan
  • Grantor trust rules
  • Personal liability of fiduciaries
  • Gifts of life insurance
  • Impact of Taxpayer Relief Act on charitable giving
  • Accelerating charitable gifts
  • Family businesses and charitable issues
  • Funding charitable gifts with retirement assets
  • Charitable giving when taxes are not an issue

Again, this event is free and open to professional advisors in the region, especially attorneys, CPAs, financial planners, and insurance representatives.  Please RSVP to 815-941-0852 or [email protected]
