We are proud of these Young Philanthropists from Gardner-South Wilmington HS who gave a grant to Catholic Charities, Diocese of Joliet for a mobile food pantry to serve 105 families in their section of Grundy County. This grant was one of the GSWHS-YP’s 2019 grants!
Each year the Foundation budgets $5,000 for each of the five high schools that serve Grundy County. A team of Young Philanthropists meets monthly throughout the school year to learn about philanthropy and the nonprofits that serve our county. In the spring, each YP team chooses which charities receive how much of their $5,000 budget and then we host a social where the students present their grant checks – it’s a fantastic evening!
